It’s getting embarrassing. More than 100 days already many cultural freelancers and flexworkers with temporary contracts are still waiting for a support measure for their canceled jobs. Last Thursday a solution would be voted in the Belgian Parliament, but by a poor political gameplay it was postponed again. We are sick of waiting.
Join our creative action in public space now on Thursday or testify on your situation. And come to the first Open Platform Meeting of State of the Arts since february, on the 1st of July. Together we stand.
Action 25/06: #StillStanding
This Thursday at 14:00 sharp, in ten cities all over Belgium, artists and technicians do a collective standstill in busy streets and squares. Join with an object representing your profession and freeze for 15 minutes in a living statue. While everything starts to move again, we are still standing still.
Read more about this action en spread it by mail, private message and mouth-to-mouth.
Looking for testimonies
Together with our French speaking collegues of Artistes Affilié.e.s we collect concrete testimonials of artists and technicians these days. What are you doing in arts and culture? How are you impacted by the lockdown? What does the lack of support mean for your situation? What do you think of this?
Mail 10 to 20 sentences to movement@state-of-the-arts.net. Add your phone number and a picture if we can publish your testimonial on Facebook or in a longer article.
Open Platform Meeting, 1 July
On the first day after the lockdown we gather again to look back and forward, physically but safely. How did you experience the lockdown? What would you like to change from now on? How can we strengthen each other?

Tonight is the last Tuesday Talk
After eight weeks, theatre maker Lotte van den Berg, ERG-director Laurence Rassel and futurist Maya Van Leemput close our online Tuesday Talks with their dreams for the future. What if art was not ‘a sector’ anymore?
Imagine 2040: what would the arts look like, what is our horizon? In Tuesday Talk 2 Rachida Aziz said: “the arts field should stop seeing itself as a separate sector”. What images and pathways can we think of? What inspires us today? This last Talk is about the power of imagination, a power lacking in the current political landscape. See all previous talks here.
SOS Relief: can you miss something?
Our solidarity tool is still going fast: already 524 people gave 75,000 euros, but a big amount of support is still requested.
Can you or your organisation spare 50, 100, 200 or 400 euros to support someone else inside or outside the arts? Welcome to sosrelief.net. Or share our promo video on facebook.
